YouTube started banning ad blockers worldwide
Popular video streaming platform YouTube has now started cracking down on ad-blocking extensions across the world, which will likely benefit the platform and YouTubers. However, it may annoy the viewers who don’t want to purchase the premium ad-free package.
While YouTube had already started blocking some ad extensions earlier this year, it has now begun blocking all the popular extensions for ad-blocking for worldwide audiences.
Oluwa Falodun, the spokesperson for Google, told The Verge that YouTube’s decision to support ads will certainly help creators and offer the global population an opportunity to access free videos on an ad-supported model. According to YouTube, ads play a vital role in generating revenue for the platform and creators, while Google supported the statement, saying that ad blockers also violate the standard terms and conditions of YouTube.
Now, audiences will receive a series of warning messages saying ‘Ad blockers are not allowed on YouTube’ when they try to use ad blocker extensions on YouTube. So the only option to continue watching your favorite videos is to disable ad-blockers.
