India will provide 4G access to more than 300 border communities in Arunachal Pradesh.

In order to provide 4G mobile telephony connection in around 336 villages in border areas of the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, the Indian government constructed 254 network towers on Saturday (April 22).

The administration wants to link isolated parts of the Tawang district where Chinese forces have encroached. With a total investment of Rs 2,675 crore, the government has approved the building of 2,605 4G mobile towers to link more than 3,721 villages in the state.

Kiren Rijiju, India’s Union Law Minister, stated during a ceremony to dedicate the first 254 mobile towers: “Today’s launch has primarily occurred in border areas. The majority of the communities will, for the most part, be near borders.

“Our district headquarters are already connected to Itanagar. Reaching disconnected and unreachable areas is the goal, Rijiju continued.

“Momentous occasion for the people of #ArunachalPradesh as 254 4G mobile towers were dedicated to the country,” Rijiju further tweeted.

The availability of high-speed internet in 336 isolated communities will change people’s lives.

The border population is thanking Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Union Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan, and Union Minister for Communications Ashwini Vaishnaw were also present at the inaugural ceremony in addition to Rijiju.

4G access connectivity benefit

Rijiju also commented on other issues, stating that 4G connectivity will benefit both the public and the security forces. Prior to his informing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the situation, people in the border region relied on mobile SIMs from a Nepalese company for communication.

The minister had also stated that a key issue was the population decline brought on by the lack of basic infrastructure. Rijiju added that distant and border communities are now getting access to amenities like power, roads, and drinking water.

The Lok Sabha member for Arunachal West, Rijiju, asserted that “other governments did not even take these steps” and that “we are not building anything in their [China’s] territory, only in ours.”

He continued by saying that among the difficulties the government had when building the towers were the necessity to construct an infrastructural ecosystem and the tough terrain.

All organisations have teamed up to build the infrastructure, including the roads and the energy. It will play a crucial role in offering the public digital services. The entire government’s attitude was what made a difference.
